Tourism as a Trade: Tourism in India has grown substantially pver the last three decades, Foreign tourist arrivals in India has increased 11.8% during the year 2010 as compared to the previous year, contributing Rs. 64,889 crore of foreign exchange in 2010. During the year 2010, almost 5.78 million foreign tourists visited India. More than 15 million people are directly engaged in the tourism industry in India.

Tourism as a trade has flourished a lot. Indian hospitality is amazing and is improving a lot. India has so many cultures and traditions to offer with different forms of cuisine, clothes and has beautiful monuments with enchanting nature like Sundarbans, Gir forests, Himalayas and Kerala

Advantages of Tourism:

  • Tourism promotes national integration and provides support to local handicrafts and cultural pursuits.
  • It also helps in the development of international understanding about our culture and heritage.
  • Rajasthan, Goa, Jammu and Kashmir and temple towns of South India are important destinations of foreign tourists in India.
  • Foreign tourists visit India for heritage tourism, eco tourism, adventure tourism, cultural tourism, medical tourism and business tourism.
  • Due to strategic reasons, the vast potential of tourism development in the North-Eastern states and the interior parts of the Himalayas have not been encouraged. The Indian tourism industry has a bright future
